ERIN PIETSCH
CREATIVE BEGINNINGS. Surrounded by the captivating beauty of the northwestern United States, Erin Pietsch discovered the love of art through the rugged and beautiful surroundings Idaho offered. After receiving a BA in ceramics at the University of Montana, she traveled the world before pursuing a Masters in Art Education back in Idaho. Several years of teaching ceramics helped Erin realize her dream of becoming a full-time ceramic artist.
ARTISTIC PATH. Erin finds limitless possibilities in working with porcelain to create unique and captivating pieces. She strives to achieve a delicate balance between function and beauty in her work, noting, “My goal is to try to combine function with beauty — not easy to do!” Erin believes that each element must not only hold visual interest but also work together harmoniously as a whole. She finds joy in creating a body of work, listening attentively to what the forms communicate to her, and observing as each piece evolves into a new creation.
INSPIRATION AND PROCESS. Erin draws inspiration from the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest, finding creative sparks during her daily outings along trails, riverbanks, and nature reserves. The majority of her work is functional, distinctive, and crafted to be used and enjoyed on a regular basis.
